With a PhD in Computer Science from VU University Amsterdam and prior experience as an Assistant Professor at Delft University of Technology, he has led multiple projects on large-scale socio-technical systems. His research focuses on innovative applications of IT, such as smart sensors and AI, to support health and well-being, addressing challenges like security, privacy, and usability. Currently, he works on projects like Hipper, a sensor-based platform for geriatric rehabilitation, and Guiding Environment, a smart home project for people with early dementia symptoms. Alongside his research, he teaches IT courses in the MakeITWork programme, supervises students in areas like IoT and healthcare technology, and is involved in developing a MSc. Cyber Security programme.
